Held Magazine: Freedom’s Flight (For Mito)

I wrote a new piece for the inaugural issue of Held Magazine out the University of Guelph. It’s entitled “Freedom’s Flight (For Mito)“.

This is also the first time I’ve had a piece of artwork published! The watercolor painting is of the aforementioned Mito, a very special love bird I met on Twitter.

No one can survive on flower petals or poetry alone, but we all need a place to nest so we might as well make our freedom fragrant and delicious like lavender. They lock us together in these ghettos and cages, make us fight for food and shelter; here, we still live. Here, we organize.
